- The BI MoM in Energy programme really helped to boost my work life and career. Much more than I had expected when I first applied and attended. Although studying while working certainly isn’t easy and it took a higher level of commitment, it was all well worth it, he says.
Jason believes that the time and effort he put in during the BI programme allowed for a very constructive process of self-reflection, in which he made the move from manager to director level.
- It helped greatly in transitioning from the downstream side of the energy sector to the upstream.
His job today consists of running the day-to-day operations for the Singapore branch of energy advisors Douglas-Westwood. He is responsible for hires, the P&L for the Singapore branch, meeting with clients, organizing the marketing and business development programmes, speaking at energy related events throughout the region, negotiating and managing consulting engagements, liaising with directors in other offices around the world as well as his CEO who sits in Aberdeen, Scotland.
- Our company is a commercial energy consultancy and a large part of our work is in bespoke strategy, market forecasting and commercial reviews of various subsectors of the industry. I am often working with vessel contractors, engineering companies, investment banks, government organisations and private equity houses.
A flexible working environment
He feels fortunate to have a supportive leadership structure back in the company’s UK-based HQ and very fortunate to have a team in Singapore that are, in his words, incredibly talented, goal-oriented and supportive of each other and the vision for the team and company.
- Also the flexibility within our working environment allows for both excellent performance, professional development and a sustainable work/life mix at all levels of the organization.
